For Autumn/Winter 2019’s Aesthetic Renaissance collection, Liberty Fabrics’ in-house design team drew inspiration from the adventurous life and artistic inspirations of their founder, Sir Arthur Lasenby Liberty. Traveller, tastemaker and gentleman, Arthur’s passion for globetrotting and treasure-hunting with his wife Emma forms the basis of Liberty’s enduring appeal. Inspirations swing from expeditions in faraway lands to the peace and quiet of English country gardens, via the opulently stylised forms of the Aesthetic Movement and Art Nouveau styles.
Covey is inspired by the beautiful plumage of pheasants that were found roaming the landscape around Liberty’s original Merton printing mill. It is drawn in soft, chalky pastels for a mesmerisingly camouflaged effect. Beautiful pastel pinks, blues and greens combine in this gorgeous design.
This soft and sturdy Liberty Covey C Piccadilly Poplin Cotton Fabric is machine washable and hard to wrinkle – a durable dressmaking essential. It had a dense and slightly ribbed texture.
