The Spring Knitting + Stitching Show 2015

Blog / 9 March 2015

I’ve had a really lovely time this past weekend at the Spring Knitting + Stitching Show and I wanted to share some of the pictures I took – I met some very exciting people there!

It was at the London Olympia and if you haven't been before it really is a great show. I hadn't been to the spring one before and it seems to be much more focused on sewing and dressmaking. There was loads of fabric stalls!

I had been asked by the show organisers (Twisted Thread) to be part of the group of demonstrators at the Homestyle Theatre. Over Saturday and Sunday I did 4 demos on tips and projects from my book – One on making and inserting piping and the other on my tops tips for simple dressmaking.

It was a great set up as there was a camera man just behind the side screens so it meant all the little details I was showing could be up on the screens and I had a madonna stylee mic on so I didn't have to shout to the folk in the back.

It was so much fun and I met so many lovely people.

After my first demo I get a real shock when three familiar faces walked up to see me. I really recognised them, then I realised it was Matt, Alex and Neil from the Sewing Bee! I was so excited to meet them - even a bit star struck!

It was a bit of a surreal experience really as I felt like I knew them, and they felt a bit like that about me, but actually we had never met each other before!

They were so lovely to chat to, no spoilers for this weeks result yet though, but I have my suspicions!

All of the current contestants had decided to meet up at the show but I’m not sure how much catching up with each other they would have done – it looked like they were getting completely swamped!

I stopped by the ByHand London stand to say hi and catch up with these awesome chicas! And, I even had a chance to catch up with Tilly as well, which is always a pleasure.

What are your thoughts on the final? Anyone calling a winner yet?

As I said, I have my suspicions but until you see what challenges they get, things can always change at the last minute!
