Thank you so much to everyone who came along and supported our charity Sewing Bee Sunday event on Sunday!
As the first event of it's kind here, we were raising money for Parkinsons UK - the charity that Ayaz and me are supporting when we run the Berlin marathon this September.
In total we raised over £300 which is fantastic and sets us well on the way to our £1600 target.
I had so much fun, met so many lovely people and saw some amazing projects - including a wedding dress!!!
We held the event in the studio where we set out the sewing machines and overlockers and signposted stations where you could get help with different projects - Repairs, Work in Progress and Customising!
We also had the fabric and pattern swop bar where peeps could bring along their stashed goods and swop them for something new. In the end I seemed to have more than what I started with though! Ah well...maybe that's an excuse to have another one!
Our little Sewing Team was Jenni (form this years series of the Sewing Bee), Claire (who is one of our lovely workshop tutors), Racheal (who will be joining the g&g team in August) and moi!

Some lovely ladies stayed all day and worked on a few projects from tailoring in a baggy shirt dress to narrowing a pair of trousers. Others popped in to get a few pointers on attaching a facing and to get tips on the best type of sewing machine to go for.
Carissa brought in an absolutly amazing wedding dress that she's making for herself to get a some tips on how best to use the lace she had bought. I forgot to take pictures though! But you'll have to trust my - it was beautiful!
Toria (aka @LittleSquishUK) brought in a funky old denium jacket.....
...and transformed it into a handbag - with a pleated handle!!
Elizabeth made a whole dress!!.... From start to finish! Very impressive!
And we realised we had checker board outfits on!!
There was lots of swopping and exchanging of ideas going on at the pattern and fabric bar...
I even picked up a meter of the most gorgeous (I think it might be a viscose) fabric - not that I need any more, but this stuff was lovely! I'm hoping to squeeze a skirt out of it!
And Jenni picked up this amazing batik fabric..
I really wish I had taken more pictures to share with you guys! I was just so caught up in the sewing moment!
Pat also came with her daughter and granddaughter who were making the cutest little tutu layered with peach and lemon coloured tulle! So sweet.
All together 30 people came along during the day and there was such a cool sewing vibe in the air!
Thanks again to all who supported the event and a huge massive thanks for Jenni, Racheal and Claire who gave up their own time to come along and help make the day possible!
If you would like to help support our fundraising efforts you can visit our Just Giving page or text the code LAGG80 and the amount you want to donate to 70070. Thank you!
I hope you guys had some time to sew over the weekend too?
