Well I've got lots of ideas and inspiration - whether you are treating yourself, dropping hints or shopping for a loved one!

Pairing one of our lovely fabrics with a stylish indie pattern would make a lovely gift so I've put together a few idea combos depending on skill level and type of project.

Ideal complete beginner project

PJ bottoms are a great place to start a dressmaking journey and will be comfy and cosy to wear over the winter.

Get started with jersey

Sewing with stretchy jersey fabric is so much fun once you get started! Projects come together so quickly and it opens you up to a whole host of lovely wearable project ideas. A simple t-shirt is a great place to start!

Make a cosy jumper

A winter essential, making a simple snuggly jumper is an ideal project for any level of stitcher. The new Tilly and the Buttons pattern has lots of options and with our wide range of sweat-shirtings that can be browsed in this link - you'll be spoiled for choice!

Set a sewing challenge

For those looking to get really stuck into a project the Kelly Anorak or Dawn jeans/trousers are great options and both pair perfectly with our new range of cotton twills!

Add a handmade touch

Our range of the popular Kylie and the Machine labels have really expanded this year with lots of new label designs to add that personal, handmade touch to your projects or gifts for others. You can now keep them all organised in a cute tin as well!

Keep your pins organised

Stray pins on the floor or all over the table no more! We've got a lovely selection of magnetic pin cushions that are super handy for keeping your pins together at your work station - or picking them up off the floor after a busy sewing session!

The Ultimate Sewing Tool Box

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned dressmaker, having good quality tools and equipment can make all the difference when working on your projects.

Our range of Prym haberdashery caters for all levels of dressmaker. For complete beginners our starter set has everything you need to get going. Or for those looking to expand and top up their tools and notions, I've linked below all of the items that we include in the tool boxes that workshop participants get when they attend a sewing class with us.

Kit out your ironing set up

As any dressmaker will know, pressing your fabric well during the construction of your garment makes all the difference to getting a great finish.

These accessories are great for taking your pressing to the next level. You can find out more about what the wooden clapper is and how to use it in this link.

For the dressmaker that already has everything

One of the exciting things about sewing is that there are always new things to learn and tools to try that you never knew you even needed!

These more usual tools are great for more experienced stitchers that will help certain stages of garment construction even easier!

Vario Pliers and Accessories

These really handy Prym pliers are a perfect addition to a sewing tool set and can be used with a huge selection of different poppers, studs, buttons and fastenings. You can see a more in-depth guide and tutorial in this blog post and video.

We also now have additional storage solutions for keeping things organised with a carry case and fun flower shaped storage box.
