The Christmas Gift Guide 2015

Blog / 2 December 2015

If you are wondering what to get the crafty person or seamstress in your life, or looking for things to add to your own Christmas wish list, here is my round of of the perfect stocking fillers!

I love having something to get cracking with on Christmas day once I'm veging out on the sofa after lunch and sewing kits are perfect for that!

With everything you need inside to make a little project these new India Matchbox Kits from Sew Over It are a ideal! There are 6 colourful designs to choose from with all the materials and tools you need (apart from scissors). Everything is already pre-cut as well which is awesome! You can browse the full selection in the gift section of the shop.

We also have a selection of kits from the Make Arcade including a sweet doughnut pin cushion, a glitter heart brooch and a cross stitch pendant.

If you're like me and love a bit of Liberty then these egg cup pin cushion kits are really cute. We't got ready made ones too in case a kit is a bit too much!

The bunting kits are great as well - with a selection of different classic Liberty Lawns. They have everything you need to make a string of lovely floral bunting including lining fabric, tape, template and full instructions.

Simple and quick knitting projects are really popular at this time of year and we've got a selection of free patterns when you buy any of our chunky or super chunky yarn. Choose from cosy wrist warmers, a snuggly cowl, chunky scarf, a bobble hat and a simple cable long cowl.

Choose from our Rico Super Super Chunky Essentials yarn, Rico Creative Twist, Rico Creative Bon Bon and Rico Essentials Big yarn. Leave a note in the comments bit at the checkout of what pattern you would like and we will pop it in your order.

We also have a selection of knitting needles too incase you want to make it a full project set. Depending on the pattern you'll need between a 7mm and 10mm set - just give us call to check if you need any help in choosing.

The Pom Pom makers are great for making quick pom poms to add to your hat, or we have these super soft ready made ones in 6 colours.

For those just starting out to sew we've put together a fresh cut of the gorgoues Emma Hardicker fabric with my book, Learn to Sew with Lauren. It's enough fabric to make the first project in the book - a great way to start your sewing journey for those getting a sewing machine for Christmas. The signed book and designer fabric of your choice are £48 (which is a saving of £5.80!).

For those already well on their way to a sewing up a storm, some nice haberdashery treats will go down a treat.

These really useful ironing gadgets will help to make life a lot easier when pressing darts, sleeve heads and cuffs - the tailors ham, the sleeve roll and the sleeve ironing board.

Other awesome additions to a sewing tool box are the popular bias binding makers (I use the 18mm most frequently for dressmaking), the chaco liners for makring out lines on fabric and a magnetic pin cushion - you'll never have to pick up pins again!

Our selection of workshops are also really popular gifts. We have just listed lots of new once for next year, or if you're just not sure you could opt for a gift voucher. We can customise them to any amount you would like and they can be spent on workshops or in the shop on any fabric, patterns or sewing supplies.

Happy Christmas!
