After the success of SEW magazines Sew Saturday event last year, I’ve been busy planning an exciting programme of activities for this year which takes place on Saturday the 15th October!
The aim of this national campaign is to give real life shops like ours the chance to celebrate being on the high street and offering friendly, helpful and inspiring shopping experiences that you just can’t get online.
Having events like this is such a lovely way to get people who love sewing together to do just that – sew!
We have make and take workshop planned for the day, free demonstrations, and competitions and of course tea and cake!
Make and Take Workshops for kids and adults
Our studio will be open from 10am – 4pm where you can drop in any time to take part in our ‘make and take’ workshops!
For adults, choose between a handy pincushion decorated with English paper pieced hexagons, a really lovely origami heart needle holder or a colourful embroidered coaster.
Entry is £5 and includes a materials pack, templates and instruction sheet and tea and cake.
For kids, choose between a fruity pineapple badge or a funky cactus key ring.
Entry is £3 and includes a materials pack, templates and instruction sheet and juice and cake.
There is no need to book, just turn up between 10am and 4pm on the day and pay by cash. Depending on how busy it is there may be a short wait but we have lots of space and last year everyone who came was able to take part almost right away so we should be fine.
Free Sewing Demonstrations
In the studio we will have a demonstration area set up with a programme of short demos on handy sewing and dressmaking techniques!
10.30am-11am Using pressing gadgets to improve the finish of your projects
11am-11.30am Introduction to the Lutterloh Pattern making system
11.30am-12pm Applying prym colour snaps to fabric using vario pliers
12.30pm-1pm Making and applying bias binding and piping cord

Again there is no need to book, just turn up on the day.
