It's been a good few months since I've rounded up all of our lovely new fabrics arrivals together and with the lovely warm summer weather set to continue (here in Birmingham anyway) I wanted to chat you through them all and give you lots of ideas for new projects!
In my latest Youtube video you can see them up close and get an ideal of drape and movement, or read on to see pictures and get links to all the fabrics.
These lovely new Robert Kaufmann fabrics are more of medium weight and would be great for a skirt or more structured dress like the Sew Over It Vintage shirt dress.
Pictured left is a super soft brushed cotton flannel which would make a nice shirt like the Grainline Archer.
These gorgeous new Liberty Tana Lawns are from their Autumn/winter 2018 collection and like all Liberty prints have such sharpness and attention to detail in the designs and colour combos.
A super exciting addition to our range of Liberty fabrics are these light weight cotton jerseys with some of their most iconic designs.
I love the Que for the Zoo one (Pictures right) - the giraffe even has shoes on!
These would be great for tops like the Tilly and the buttons Agnes t-shirt.
I love Nani Iro fabrics all year round but it's in the summer when the dream is to just be draped in them all day long! We've had some beautiful new designs in from her 2018 collection as expected the colours are phenomenal and the cotton double gauze and linen base cloths are perfect for summery garments.
Whether it's a quick and simple make like a Truebias Ogden Cami or Tilly and the buttons Stevie top, or something more intricate like a Closet Case Kalle shirt, these beautiful fabrics will make your heart sing!
These bold and bright summery prints, made in Spain, are ideal for a striking summer dress. The viscose twill (pictured below and below left) are fluid and drapey with enough weight to not require lining. It makes them really versatile for lots of style of dresses from a swooshy Sew Over It Betty as well as something more simple and straight fitting like Merchant & Mills Camber dress.
The feathery light weight cotton lawns would be lovely a top or blouse like the Deer and Doe Melilot.
Keeping things cool and breezy, this selection of buttery soft viscose fabrics are great for loose styles and keeping cool in the warm weather - whether its a simple kimono, a loose pair of trousers like the marigolds or a floaty blouse like the new Vera shirt from Pauline Alice.
If you've maxed out on summer makes and are starting to map out plans for Autumn then these more weighty fabric will spark some ideas, especially the Robert Kaufmann metallic cotton/linens. They would be great for a more structured dress like the Deer and Doe Belladone or a simple a-line skirt.
